The BMW Motorcycle Club of Battle Creek (BMW MOA #14 and BMW RA #349)

Founded in 1971, The BMW Motorcycle Club of Battle Creek, Michigan (BCBMW Club), is a fun, family oriented group of people who enjoy riding and talking about BMW motorcycles. Meetings are held the first Saturday of each month (except in January and July).

In addition to monthly meetings and rides (weather permitting), the BCBMW Club sponsors the  Original Mini-Rally  each year in Sturgis, Michigan.

The weatherman has promised sunny weather and mild temperaturs again for 2016!!!!  Nothing beats a great weekend with old and new friends to start the riding season off right.

                                   The Fun Continues in 2016!

The Original Mini-Rally for 2016 will be held in the same great location at Green Valley Campground  in Sturgis, Michigan.  Check the Original Mini-Rally tab above for more details!

Attention BMW of Battle Creek Club Members

2016 Mileage Contest Information

The annual club mileage contest will run concurrent with the BMW MOA contest, which began APRIL 9, 2016

Be sure to get your mileage forms signed for the BMW MOA contest and remember to make a copy for our local club contest.  As discussed at the April club meeting, our contest will run concurrent with the BMW MOA contest and the same starting forms will be acceptable for the club contest.

Are You Up for the Challenge???

As discussed at the April club meeting, you are challenged to learn your A-B-C's in a new, fun way.  Every city, town, village, or municipality has a name that begins with a letter of the alphabet.  (For example, Battle Creek would count for your "B"; S for Sturgis, and so on).  Your challenge is to visit as many towns representing each letter of the alphabet as possible.  You can document each visit by taking a picture of your motorcycle in front of post offices, or city/town/village limits signs so we can all see where you've been.  Bonus points i fyou can include yourself in the picture.  Just be care to make sure you can park safely to snap your picture.  The rider who documents visits to the most letters of the alphabet wins!

Willie D. has volunteered to administer the contest and challenge.  We'll hear more about it at the May club meeting.  Be sure to thank him when you get a chance!

Happy 88th Birthday Bob!

More than a dozen club members were on hand on April ?? at BMW Motorcycles of Grand Rapids to help celebrate Bob's 88th Birthday.

A long-time member of the BMW Club of Battle Creek, Bob usually beats all of us in the annual mileage contest (without bonuses!!!!).  If you didn't make it to the celebration, be sure and wish him a Happy Birthday the next time you see him.

Safety Tip of the Month:  Getting Ready for Spring Riding

Make motorcycle maintenance a top priority.
Make sure your favorite ride is ready for its first spring adventure.
Follow instructions in your owners manual for bringing your bike out of winter storage.
Don't forget basic checks like these:

  • Charge battery

  • Check tire pressure and tread depth; look for checking.

  • Check fluid levels and top off, if needed.

  • Check under all covers for critters that may have taken up residence in your air filter or exhaust pipes.

  • Make sure your license and insurace documents are current

Keep your eyes open for deer and other small animals
As spring riding season approaches, animals are becoming active after a long, cold winter. They may be moving slower than usual and looking for food.

  • Carcasses along the road side may mean that the animals make regular crossings in that area.  Be especially alert in these areas, both in your car and as you venture out on those early spring rides.  Slow down and be ready to take evasive action if needed.

  • Put a little extra distance than normal between yourself and the vehicles ahead of you so that you'll be able to see more of the road ahead, as well as the ditches on either side..

  • Avoid riding at dusk, dawn or after dark if you can.

  • Keep your eyes open and be ready to take action.

Be safe and have a great ride!
